November 5, 2026 — AIDA Cruises has signed a 10-year agreement with La Romana Airport & Port in the Dominican Republic, making La Romana a long-term base for its fly-and-cruise Caribbean vacations. AIDAdiva is due there on November 14.
What was announced
The deal was signed at an industry event in London by Anika Birkholz of AIDA’s executive committee and Luis Emilio Rodríguez, director of La Romana Airport & Port, which is run by Central Romana Corporation. Dominican Tourism Minister David Collado attended. It covers fly-and-cruise packages that start and end in La Romana. Birkholz said the agreement “creates a binding framework for cooperation over the next ten years.” Exact start and end dates were not published (TBA).
| Winter season | AIDA ships at La Romana |
|---|---|
| 2026-27 | Three ships, including AIDAdiva (arrives November 14, 2026) |
| 2027-28 | AIDAluna, AIDAprima, AIDAbella |
| 2028-29 | AIDAprima, AIDAdiva, AIDAbella |
What it means for travelers
- Same airport, same pier. The partner runs both La Romana’s airport (LRM) and its cruise port, which makes the flight-to-ship transfer short.
- Other gateways. If you are not on AIDA’s package flights, Punta Cana (PUJ) and Santo Domingo (SDQ) are the bigger nearby airports with more flights from North America and Europe. Allow time for the road transfer.
- German-language product. AIDA’s cruises are aimed at German-speaking guests, which is worth knowing before you book.
