October 31, 2026 — Ponant’s small expedition ship Le Lyrial scored 83 on a CDC Vessel Sanitation Program inspection. The CDC treats a score of 85 or below as failing.

What happened

  • The 264-passenger ship was inspected in New York on October 17, 2026 and cited for 27 deficiencies.
  • According to Cruise Fever, the findings were mainly about cleaning supplies, food-contact surfaces, and rat guards that weren’t put on the mooring lines until an hour after the ship arrived.
  • The report was posted on the CDC website on October 30. No illnesses were reported.

What it means for travelers

  • No sailings were affected. A failed score is an inspection result, not a cancellation or outbreak. You can read the full report on the CDC’s Vessel Sanitation Program site.
