VIJAYAWADA, India — October 27, 2026 — IndiGo has cancelled all 12 of its flights at Vijayawada Airport (VGA) for Wednesday, October 28, as Cyclone Arnab approaches the Andhra Pradesh coast. Other airlines have also cut services, after a first round of cancellations on Tuesday.

Flights affected

Date Airline What was cancelled
Tue, Oct 27 IndiGo Flights on routes to Kadapa, Hyderabad, Chennai and Bengaluru, including the Chennai–Vijayawada (7:05 pm) and Vijayawada–Chennai (due 10:05 pm) pair
Tue, Oct 27 Air India Express One service to and from Visakhapatnam
Wed, Oct 28 IndiGo All 12 of its Vijayawada flights
Wed, Oct 28 Fly91 Flights cancelled (number not given)
Wed, Oct 28 Air India Morning service to Delhi

The Hans India reported that officials put Wednesday’s cancellations at 15 flights. When flights will resume: TBA.

Airline advisories

  • Air India and Air India Express say the cyclone may affect flights to and from Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam. They ask passengers to check flight status online and to allow extra time to reach the airport because road travel may be affected.
  • No fee waivers were mentioned in the reports.

The storm

  • India’s weather office (IMD) expected Cyclone Arnab to cross the coast between Bapatla and Visakhapatnam, near Yanam, by Wednesday forenoon, with maximum sustained winds of 125–135 km/h gusting to 150 km/h.
  • Andhra Pradesh is on high alert, with evacuations planned. Several trains have also been cancelled.

What it means for travelers

  • Vijayawada is effectively shut to IndiGo on October 28. With all 12 IndiGo flights and other services cancelled, there is little to book on most of the day’s schedule.
  • Expect full flights once service returns. Passengers from two days of cancellations will be rebooked first, so the first flights back will be full. Allow several days of flexibility if you must travel.
  • Ground options are limited too. Roads may be affected and several trains are cancelled, so driving or taking the train from Hyderabad or Chennai may not be a reliable workaround.
  • Check before you go. Resumption is TBA; check IndiGo, Air India, Air India Express and Fly91 flight status before heading to the airport.
