PARIS, France — November 5, 2026 — Update to our November 4 story. France’s civil aviation authority (DGAC) did not ask airlines to cut flights at Charles de Gaulle (CDG) or Orly (ORY) for today’s national strike, so flights are expected to run largely as scheduled. The bigger headache is getting to CDG: RER B trains to the airport are running at half service.
What changed since yesterday
- No flight-cut orders: the DGAC told the trade outlet TourMaG on Wednesday, November 4, that it had not asked airlines to reduce schedules for Thursday, November 5. In yesterday’s story, cuts were still possible because controllers had until noon on November 3 to declare whether they would strike.
- Possible slowdowns at check-in and security: SUD Aérien and UNSA Aérien called on airport ground workers (handling, security, cleaning, maintenance) to strike, so queues may be longer even though flights operate.
- Not every union is in: SNCTA, the largest air traffic controllers’ union, is not taking part, according to VolClaim. FO, USAC-CGT and UNSA-UTCAC called DGAC staff to strike.
Getting to and from the airports
| Link | Status | Dates |
|---|---|---|
| RER B north of Gare du Nord (to CDG) | About one train in two | Nov 5 (strike day) |
| RER B Châtelet-Les Halles – CDG 2-TGV, evenings | No trains from 10:45 p.m. on weekdays (engineering work); replacement buses | Through Nov 10 |
| Roissybus (from Opéra), RATP buses 350 and 351 | Expected to run normally | Nov 5 |
| Metro line 14 (to Orly) | Expected to run normally | Nov 5 |
Other Paris-region rail lines were also cut back today: RER C about one in two, RER D about one in three and RER E about two in three, while RER A was expected to run normally. SNCF expected about nine in ten TGV trains to run.
What it means for travelers
- Flights should not be cut because none were ordered, but check your flight status again before you leave in case an airline trims flights on its own.
- Allow extra time at the airport: ground-staff walkouts could slow bag drop and security even with a full schedule.
- Plan your ride to CDG: with half the RER B trains running, consider Roissybus or buses 350/351, and leave early.
- Arriving late at CDG through November 10? After 10:45 p.m. on weekdays the RER B does not run between the airport and Châtelet-Les Halles; budget for the replacement bus or a taxi if you miss a late flight and have to go back into town.
- Orly is the easier airport today if you have a choice, with Metro line 14 expected to run normally.
