October 9, 2026 — Indian Railways has ordered long-distance trains due into two of Delhi’s main stations on Saturday morning, October 10, to be cancelled at their starting points, Business Today reports. The move comes ahead of a planned protest at Jantar Mantar in central Delhi that police have refused to permit.

What is planned

  • Trains affected: Mail and Express trains scheduled to arrive at New Delhi or Hazrat Nizamuddin stations between 4 am and 2 pm on Saturday, October 10. The number of trains is TBA.
  • Metro: Restrictions at about 40 Delhi Metro stations are under consideration. Details are TBA.
  • Why: A protest called by the Cockroach Janta Party at Jantar Mantar. Police denied permission.
  • Airport: Delhi’s airport is not mentioned in the report.

Odisha follow-up

  • Thursday’s 12-hour shutdown in Odisha hit buses and trains between Bhubaneswar and Cuttack and thinned taxis at Bhubaneswar airport, travel site The Traveler reports. No further shutdown date is announced.

What it means for travelers

  • Arriving in Delhi by train Saturday morning? Check your train’s status with Indian Railways before going to the station.
  • Heading to Delhi airport Saturday? Check whether your Metro station is restricted, and leave early.
  • Avoid the Jantar Mantar area on Saturday.
