That is a month earlier than the April 1 reservation start reported before, but well after the 2026 opening Hyatt first announced.
What is happening
Secrets Macao Beach Punta Cana is a new all-inclusive, adults-only resort on Playa Macao, on the northern side of the greater Punta Cana area in the Dominican Republic. When Hyatt announced the project in September 2025, it said a Hyatt affiliate had signed a management agreement with GSM Investissements Dominicana S.R.L., which already owns the neighboring Dreams Macao Beach Punta Cana, and it targeted a 2026 opening.
Caribbean Journal now reports that Hyatt’s booking platform lists a March 2027 debut. No exact first-arrival day has been published, so treat the date as TBA within March 2027.

What it means for travelers
- Do not lock in flights too early: The opening has already moved from 2026 to March 2027. Caribbean Journal advises confirming arrival dates, which restaurants and pools will be open, and cancellation terms with the resort before buying tickets.
- Opening-month travel: Opening-month trips to a beach destination can mean full flights. Build in a spare day and have a backup plan.
- Getting there: Punta Cana International (PUJ) is about 40 minutes from the neighboring Dreams Macao Beach resort.
- Brand-new resort: Expect some early kinks in the first weeks; a later stay may be smoother.
