October 3, 2026 — Update to our October 2 story. A clarification to yesterday’s story: the RMT union suspended only this Sunday’s strike at TransPennine Express. Its strikes on the other three Sundays in October remain in place. In Nottingham, trams are not running today because of a separate strike.
The dates
| Date | Operator | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Sun, Oct 4 | TransPennine Express (RMT) | Suspended. Talks resumed. |
| Sun, Oct 11, 18, 25 | TransPennine Express (RMT) | Still on. Limited service expected. |
| Sat, Oct 10 and 17 | Chiltern Railways | Still on. Most trains run; none to Stratford-upon-Avon or Leamington Spa. |
| Fri–Sat, Oct 2–3 | Nottingham NET trams | No tram service. Action ran September 26 to October 3. |
| Sun–Wed, Oct 4–7 | Mitie night cleaning supervisors, London Underground (RMT) | No effect on Tube service stated. |
We found no national rail strike and no Tube driver or station staff strike.
What it means for airline travelers
- Manchester Airport: TransPennine Express is a main rail link. On October 11, 18 and 25 check the timetable the day before and consider Northern trains or a coach.
- This Sunday: TransPennine should run normally.
- Chiltern days: for Birmingham or Oxford, look at other operators from London.
- Refunds: if your train is cancelled, you can claim a refund from where you bought the ticket.
