October 30, 2026 — The Westin Fiji Golf Resort and Spa on Denarau Island is set to become the JW Marriott Fiji Resort and Spa. The conversion will bring the JW Marriott brand to the Pacific Islands, with the debut planned for the first quarter of 2027.

What is happening

Marriott International has signed a conversion agreement with Dubbo Pte Ltd, a subsidiary of the Fiji National Provident Fund (FNPF), to rebrand the existing Westin resort as a 282-key JW Marriott. Reservations are expected to open in December 2026. Whether the resort will close, or how long it might close, during the changeover has not been announced (TBA), and no investment figure was given. Marriott’s Rajeev Menon called Fiji “one of the Pacific’s most compelling resort destinations.”

What it means for travelers

  • Airport: Nadi International Airport (NAN) is Fiji’s main international gateway and the nearest airport to Denarau Island. Check current schedules from your gateway.
  • Existing bookings: if you hold a Westin Fiji reservation for late 2026 or early 2027, check with the hotel or Marriott Bonvoy whether your dates are affected, as the changeover schedule and any work have not been published.
  • When to book: JW Marriott reservations are expected to open in December 2026. Watch for the confirmed opening date before you commit to flights.
  • Families: the separate family and adults-only pools, kids club and teen zone make this one to watch for both family trips and couples.
