October 21, 2026 — A historic waterfront hotel in La Paz, Baja California Sur, is welcoming guests again, now as Perla La Paz, Tapestry Collection by Hilton.

What is happening

Hilton announced on October 20 that the hotel is open on La Paz’s Malecón (seafront boardwalk). The original Hotel Perla was the first major hotel in what was then the Southern Territory of Baja California. Hamak Hotels operates the property under Hilton’s Tapestry Collection soft brand.

Detail Information
Brand / parent Tapestry Collection by Hilton / Hilton; operated by Hamak Hotels
Location Malecón, La Paz, Baja California Sur, Mexico
Status Open now
Rooms 90 oceanfront rooms
Dining La Terraza (waterfront, Mexican comfort food) and Perla (signature restaurant sourcing from local fishing cooperatives)
Features Heated rooftop pool, spa, fitness center, a history space called “Memory of Perla,” and about 4,600 sq ft of event space
Booking perks Hilton Honors members booking direct get a member discount, points-and-money payment, free standard Wi-Fi and Digital Key

What it means for travelers

  • Airport: La Paz International Airport (LAP). The only U.S. nonstop currently listed for LAP is Alaska Airlines from Los Angeles; most other access is via Mexican hubs such as Tijuana, Guadalajara and Mexico City on Volaris, Viva and Aeroméxico.
  • With limited U.S. nonstop service, have a backup plan, such as connecting through a Mexican hub or flying into Los Cabos and driving up the peninsula.
  • Because this is a reopening of an established building, there should be no construction disruption, though newly reopened hotels can still have early service gaps.
