October 2, 2026 — HX Expeditions has extended its “Greenland Promise” booking guarantee through the end of the 2028 season as it closes out a 31-voyage Arctic season.
Under the Greenland Promise, guests on affected Greenland voyages can move to another expedition and receive a 20% future cruise credit, or take a full refund. The conditions that trigger the guarantee were not spelled out in the report; check HX’s terms before booking.
HX also reported the results of its Arctic season: 31 sailings, 26,491 citizen-science submissions from guests across nine research programs, and a trial aboard the expedition ship Fram of thermal-imaging and machine-learning technology that detects whales near the vessel.
What it means for airline travelers
- Greenland is hard to reach on standby. Flights to Greenland and to Arctic gateways such as Reykjavik (KEF) are limited and seasonal. A refund-or-rebook guarantee reduces the cruise-fare risk if a voyage is disrupted, but it does not cover your flights.
- Build in buffer days. Expedition ships do not wait, and the next flight may be days away. Plan to arrive at least a day early, more if you are non-revving through a small gateway.
- If you take the rebooking option, the alternative expedition may leave from a different port, so hold off on confirming flights until the new voyage is set.
- Interline rates: the report does not mention travel-industry rates.
